Are you a nonprofit leader who needs grants to support your program? No idea where to start? I'm LaCharla Figgs. Join me, and I'll teach you about nonprofit grantmaking and help you draft a high-quality grant proposal--even if you don't know the first thing about fundraising.

Online Education & Coaching Program

You'll learn grantmaking basics and tips for drafting a competitive proposal. Then you'll get to work and draft a proposal you can use as a template to apply for future grants. PLEASE NOTE: This will become a self-study course in 2019; so enroll by Dec. 12, 2018 to receive group and 1-on-1 coaching for this low investment.

Nonprofit Grants

Learn what grants are, where they come from, and how they fit into your organization's overall fundraising strategy. You'll even learn when NOT to pursue a grant and how to work with a grantwriter.

Proposal Mechanics

Learn the structure and elements of a typical proposal, along with features that make it highly competitive. Learn how to avoid common mistakes that frustrate grant makers and reduce your chances of success.

Get help drafting your first proposal from a coach who has written proposals and managed a grant making program. With individual and group coaching, you'll draft a proposal that will be a template you can use over and over.

More About The Program

  • This 5-week program offers 2 weeks of foundation-building lessons, followed by 3 weeks of hands-on proposal writing.
  • At the start of each week, you'll log into the online classroom to view the a pre-recorded video lesson. With 24/7 access, you can fit learning into your busy schedule.
  • You can post questions inside each lesson, and I'll drop in with the answers.
  • We will NOT develop your full grant budget here, because that would require a longer course. But we will outline the components of your grant budget, and you'll learn practical budget development tips and cautions.
  • During Weeks 1 and 2, you'll be invited to 1 or more group coaching calls where you can ask questions.
  • Weeks 3 through 5 are for implementation. So, depending on participants' needs, you may have additional lessons. You'll definitely have access to 1 or more group and individual coaching sessions to help you complete your proposal.
  • Expect to work, and set aside the time to do it.

Grantwriting is not magic. It's a learnable skill that takes time, focus, and follow-through. In this case, you also need the right technology. Just enrolling in this program won't help you, but if you can answer yes to the following questions, you're ready for this:

  • Will you set aside at least 2-4 hours each week for the video lessons and coaching sessions, and to complete your assignments?
  • Can you describe in detail the program for which you want grant funds? We need this to make a compelling case to a grant funder!
  • Do you have a reliable internet-enabled device that allows you to watch videos, download documents, and participate in web-based conversations?
  • Do you have the skills and equipment to navigate websites, download and print from the internet, and participate in video conferencing?

I hope you answered yes, and I hope you'll join us. But if you still have questions, you can CONTACT ME.

  • To register, click one of the big Enroll Me Now! buttons on this page.
  • You'll be taken to a registration page and asked to create an account with your email address and a password. You'll use these each time you log into the Nonprofit Startup Lab for your lessons.
  • After you register, you'll get a message telling you how to access the online classroom and what you should do next. You'll get an email reminder the day before the program opens and a day before the next week's lesson goes live in the classroom.
  • Tuition is a 1-time payment of $129, either through PayPal or your credit card. (I never see your financial information.)

  • I've designed this program for serious students, rather than casual tire-kickers. You have to learn and work to get results. So it's not for everyone.
  • I want you to be happy with your decision, though. So if you enroll, start the lessons, and find that this program is the wrong fit for you, you can request a full no-questions-asked refund. You have do that according to the Terms of Purchase, which you can read HERE. (It's pretty brief, and it's written in plain English.).

" I am a resident of Florida and two things that helped me in our Startup class are The Making It PLAIN Assignments; writing our plans helped with understanding what my organization is really about and how to move forward. Secondly, being able to share feedback with others in our [Nonprofit] Startup Academy.....Thank you"
